Happy Anniversary and Thanks from Discover Southside

It has been just over two years since the first issue of Discover Southside came to life. What started as a way to highlight some of the great people, places and things in Southside Virginia has grown to include articles and advertisers from all over Southern Virginia and parts of Northern North Carolina. Readers have written to us from all over the country and told us they liked what they saw. It has been an exciting and humbling two years.

In this time we have learned a lot and grown. We have welcomed new writers and new readers. We have learned that life hands us challenges and it hands us opportunities.

This month we would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of Discover Southside through their support, their writing and their feedback. Some have become regulars with articles or columns appearing nearly every month. Others have become occasional contributors who, like an extended family, we see at various intervals, and enjoy them when we do.

The Discover Southside family continues to grow, this month we welcome Liz Smith who plans to add articles on life, eating well, preparedness, and family living. Her first Discover Southside article, "Eating Healthy - Part 1" appears in this issue. For those of you who don't know Liz, she and her husband Rick own and operate Yoder's Country Market just across the border in nearby Blanch, NC. Her experience operating an "Amish-Style" market which, specializes in nutritious bulk and whole foods has given Liz a unique outlook and education.

As always we would like to thank our advertisers, without their support we could not continue to produce Discover Southside.

And to our readers, keep the feedback coming. Your input helps us grow and improve.

As we head into our third year, we hope you all, readers, writers, advertisers and advisors, will continue to help us make Discover Southside even better.
